The different components of refractory bricks can be divided into many categories. Any furnace is not built with only one kind of refractory brick but requires a combination of different refractory bricks. The following is a detailed introduction to other related types of refractory bricks.

The following is a list of contents:

  • Carbon refractory bricks

  • Thermal insulation refractory bricks

Carbon refractory bricks

Carbon-containing refractory bricks refer to refractory bricks made of carbon or carbon compounds, with carbon in different forms as the main component, and are mainly divided into the following types. Carbon bricks are high-temperature neutral refractory bricks products made of carbonaceous materials as the main raw material and adding an appropriate amount of binder. Carbon bricks are widely used in masonry blast furnace bottom, hearth, and the lower part of the shaft. It can improve the continuous operation time of the blast furnace and prolong the service life. In addition, carbon-containing refractory bricks are also widely used in the electrochemical industry, chemical industry, petrochemical industry, electroplating industry, ferroalloy industrial furnace (or lining of equipment), acid solution, alkali solution tank lining, and pipeline, as well as smelting non-ferrous metals (such as lead, aluminum, tin, etc.) furnace lining; graphite refractory products are refractory bricks made of natural graphite and clay as a binder. Such products include graphite clay crucibles, distillation tanks, plug bricks for cast steel, nozzle bricks and ladle lining bricks.

Among them, the most produced and widely used are graphite clay crucibles for steelmaking and smelting non-ferrous metals; silicon carbide refractory products are relatively advanced refractory bricks produced from silicon carbide. It has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, high thermal conductivity, a small coefficient of linear expansion, and good thermal shock resistance. In iron and steel smelting, it can be used in ladle lining, nozzle, plug, blast furnace bottom and belly, tapping groove, converter, and electric furnace tapping, heating furnace without water-cooling slide rails, etc. In the smelting of non-ferrous metals such as zinc and copper, it is widely used in stills, distillation column trays, sidewalls of electrolyzers, molten metal pipes, suction pumps, and smelting metal crucibles. In the silicate industry, it is widely used as the shed plate and muffle material of various kilns, such as muffle furnace lining and saggar. In the chemical industry, it is mostly used in oil and gas generators, organic waste calciners, petroleum gasifiers, and desulfurization furnaces; zirconium-containing refractory bricks, which belong to an acidic material, are made from natural zircon sand. Zirconium refractory bricks are different from silicon-aluminum refractory bricks and carbon-containing refractory bricks. They have good slag resistance, a small thermal expansion rate, the thermal conductivity decreases with increasing temperature, a high softening temperature under load, and high wear resistance. It has good thermal shock resistance and has become an important material in various industrial fields. With the development of continuous casting and vacuum degassing technology in the metallurgical industry, the application of zircon refractory bricks is more and more extensive.

Thermal insulation refractory bricks

Thermal insulation refractory bricks refer to refractory materials with high porosity, low bulk density, and low thermal conductivity. Insulation refractory material is also called refractory material. It includes the following categories. High-alumina heat-insulating refractory bricks, which are heat-insulating refractory bricks with bauxite-based and alumina content not less than 48%. The production process adopts the foam method, and the burn-out addition method can also be used. High-alumina heat-insulating refractory bricks can be used to build heat-insulating layers and places where there is no strong high-temperature molten material erosion and scouring. When in direct contact with the flame, the surface contact temperature of general high-aluminum heat-insulating refractory bricks shall not be higher than 1350℃. Mullite heat-insulating refractory bricks can directly contact the flame and have the characteristics of high-temperature resistance, high strength, and remarkable energy-saving effect. It is suitable for the lining of pyrolysis furnaces, hot blast furnaces, ceramic roller kilns, electric porcelain drawer kilns, and various resistance furnaces with 48% insulated refractory bricks. Its production process adopts the burn-out method and foam method; diatomite heat-insulating refractory bricks are heat-insulating refractory bricks made of diatomite as the main raw material. It is mainly used for heat insulation layers below 900℃; floating bead refractory bricks are heat-insulating refractory products made of floating beads as the main raw material. Floating beads are aluminosilicate glass hollow beads floated from the fly ash of thermal power plants. It has a light body, thin wall, hollow, smooth surface, high-temperature resistance, and good thermal insulation performance. Using these excellent properties of floating beads, light-weight thermal insulation refractory materials with excellent thermal insulation properties can be manufactured. The production of floating bead refractory bricks can be formed by the semi-dry method.

With the continuous development of my country's cement industry, higher requirements are also placed on refractory materials. Therefore, the company will increase the adjustment efforts and develop better types of refractory bricks to meet the needs of the new situation.
